Holbrook Jackson (1874–1948)

British literary historian, journalist, writer and publisher, and one of the leading bibliophiles of his time. Together with A.R. Orage he established in 1907 the formidable political and literary "New Age", a struggling Christian Socialist weekly magazine. He was active in the Fabian Society, and his devotion to William Morris was reflected in many works from his early study to his Morris anthology, On Art and Socialism (1947). The Eighteen Nineties (1913) established the literary contours of the decade. Among his later works: Anatomy of Bibliomania (1931) and Bookman's Holiday (1945).
